Cheap iPods: Hooray for Competition!
Cheap iPods are not all that common. But as the MP3 wars heat up, we're seeing
lower prices. At under $100 a new 512MB iPod Shuffle is cheap compared to the
$300 plus prices for most iPods.
Check Out the New Nano
The newly unveiled iPod Nano may prove to be the most popular ever. It's a flash player
like the Shuffle. But unlike the Shuffle, the Nano has features
like higher priced iPods including up to 4GB memory and photo display.
The Nano sports a 1.5 inch color LCD screen and improved Li-ion battery. It
will play up to 14 hours of music or a 4 hour slide show with music.
At under $200 the 2GB Nano is relatively cheap as iPods go.
Re-Manufactured Lowers Cost
Another way to save money on iPods is to look for deals on refurbished
models. Savings of 20% to 40% or more are possible. More discounters, especially online
merchants, are offering great deals on iPods and
other mp3 player brands.
While not iPods, some flash MP3
players are now priced below $50. Even some hard drive players have come down to the
$150 to $200 range. While prices are getting cheaper, features and quality are
improving, and a little comparison shopping can save a lot of money.
