Archos: Music, Video and Data to Go
Archos is highly respected for their portable mp3 players, video
player/recorders, removable hard drives, card readers, and more. Their popular GMini music players support MP3,
WAV and WMA protected files. And their multipurpose video players do just about
everything.
Archos Jukebox Players
The GMini XS100 music player features a 3GB hard drive and a rechargeable
Li-ion battery for up to 14 hours of music enjoyment. About the size of a credit
card and only half an inch thick, the XS100 comes in four stylish colors and
stores any kind of data you wish.
Even smaller at 2.9" X 2.3" X 0.7", the Archos GMini XS202 has 20GB and
will play up to 17 hours per charge. Only an inch and a quarter longer, the
GMini 402 adds up to 80 hours of video or 200,000 photos on its 2.2" TFT LCD
color screen. Or go all out with the GMini 402 Camcorder that lets you shoot up
to 50 hours of live MPEG-4 video with stereo sound (coming soon).
GMini players feature high speed USB 2.0 connectors with USB 1.1
compatibility, built in FM tuners, and will work in either Windows or Mac
environments. Starting around $150, Archos offers real value in a multifaceted mp3
player.
Movies and TV in Your Pocket
Archos DVRs have it all. Use the TV Docking Pod or AV cables to store up to
160 hours of video on the 40GB AV700. Enjoy favorite movies or TV shows on the
7" color LCD with built in stereo speakers, or plug in stereo headphones for
privacy. Not enough? Then opt for the 100GB AV700 that holds up to 400 hours!
These video recorder/players will also store and play thousands of songs or
photos. Incredibly this is all packed into a 4.2" X 8.2" X 0.8" package.
Want something more compact? Any day now we'll see the new 30GB and 100GB
pocket sized AV500 models. Only 3.0" X 4.9", the 30GB is 0.7" thick and the
100GB 0.9", both with a 4" LCD screen. No skimping on features here; these tiny
DVRs do everything their big brothers do.
In addition to AV connectors, Archos DVRs are also USB 2.0 and 1.1
compatible. The Li-ion batteries play up to four hours per charge and are
removable, making it easy to pop in a spare on those long flights. You'd
probably expect to pay a lot for all this, but Archos DVRs start at less than
$460 at online discounters.
Transfer, Store or Back Up Data
Archos ARCDisk portable hard drives are the answer to your digital file
needs. At only 1.8" X 1.7" X 0.5" the 4GB ARCDisk will attach to a key ring and
quickly plug in with its foldable USB 2.0/1.1 connector. At about 3" square and
less than half an inch thick, the 20GB and 40GB drives aren't much larger than
flash memory cards and have many times the storage capacity. Priced
from about $135 to $180, ARCDisk drives are very affordable.
